& the Campistas rock Dekcuf - John
Allaire tried out a new line-up, the "Campistas" on
May 27th, and by all accounts, things worked out great. The pared-down
4-piece ensemble of Tony Dunn on keyboards and sax (The Dunn
Project), Jeff Tanguay on bass (The Mercy Miners), Breeze Smith
on drums (Bush Pilots)and Allaire playing guitar carried out
a full rockin' 45 minute opening set in support of local signed
band "Circuit".
The
intimate Ottawa club provided great sound and clarity to the
band's material, as they bashed through some of Allaire's Town
Cryers tunes and a half-dozen or so from his latest release, "Crime
and Punishment".
They
finished off with a screamin' version of Cheap Trick's "Surrender",
leaving the audience wanting more, and well warmed up for Circuit

27/04 - "Campistas" to back
up Allaire at Dekcuf gig
John Allaire will be mixing things up and trying out
a new backing band on May 27th at Cafe Dekcuf in Ottawa. The
Campistas are an ensemble of accomplished entertainers from the
Ottawa area, but when asked who they were, Allaire was elusive,
"You've see them around, no doubt - there's always a few
surprises ...". Allaire is not parting ways with "Criminal
Intent", however, as a solo artist, he has chosen to explore
different line-ups and instrumentation combinations.
