Heading on up to Connecticut

Two shows today. The first one is a noon show at a place called Groovy's Cafe (how can we go wrong???) inside a diner called The Chef's Table in Fairfield, CT. Fairfield was a cool little eye-opener. Going in, we had visions of the lunchtime crowd in a small town being eight locals not interested in what we were doing. BUT, we were thankfully way off base there.

About 10 minutes into the show, the place was packed and enthusiastic. And EVERYONE dropped money in the tip jar on the way in or out. It was amazing. CD sales were brisk that afternoon as well. It got us thinking that next time around, we should look for more lunchtime and happy hour gigs in the US. They seem to be a lot more receptive to being entertained at any time of day down there!

By the way, if you every head through Fairfield, stop in and have a wrap. Unbelievable food and the staff is the best! We left stuffed and full of "Rogue, Dead Guy Ale" (more on that later)!

 

We're heading up to Bridgeport, CT tonight to play at a place called Two Boots in the downtown area. We'll be playing with a group called the String Fingers Band. Should be fun! Everyone says this is THEE place to play in Bridgeport, AND, the pizza is amazing. WOOT!

However kids, sometimes things fall apart onthe road... we call this, THE MELTDOWN, a common affliction on the road.

 

Nevertheless, you have to pick up the pieces and carry on ;-) The Bridgeport show was a whole bag of fun as well. The was one of the nicest stages we played on the whole tour and the pizza did certainly live up to its reputation. We played with The String Fingers Band and they were great. You'll see in this clip that not only do we have a shot of Gilles playing bongos on this one, but we also have video of me up with String Fingers Band.

 

Tomorrow we head south again for the last show of the tour. The Blue Moon in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
