Last show... back south to Shepherdstown, West Virginia
After all this traveling around, it was a bit depressing to have to drive 5 hours south, only to have to drive 9.5 hours north the next day. But that's rock n roll. And we were certainly glad we made the trip south because it turned out to be a wonderful show and a great and fitting way to end the tour.
Shepherdstown is a university town about 45 minutes away from Balitmore and Washington, DC. But it might as well be a million miles away from any major city because it is the true embodiment of small town/coutry hospitality. In fact, the club owner put us up at her own house, rather than having us go to the extra expense of finding a hotel room.
The sound was really good at the Blue Moon and the set-up was such that there were patrons on either side of me, but none straight ahead, so it was odd to be looking ahead only at the soundman.
The show turned out to be a real jewel and, along with our fee, we ended up with a case of "Rogue - Dead Man Ale" to bring home with us. I certainly liked the microbrewed beer, but had difficulties finding any other takers up here in Canada.
After the show, we went to this house back in the woods for an "after-party". There we found this beautiful outdoor stage where they hold town festivals and events. We were going top hang out by the stage, but it started to rain a bit, so we moved the tour-ending party into the tool shed!
